Montessori Toys: The Beginning...
Montessori Toys was founded by Mary Detrez. Prior to this adventure, I ran an e-commerce store for four years alongside my studies in computer science, management, and digital marketing, right until my little girl, Élia, came into the world.
As a young mother passionate about organic living and natural well-being, it was essential for me to raise my child in a healthy, nurturing, and joyful environment. I naturally explored alternative education, especially the Montessori approach, which stood out as a wonderful way to foster independence, curiosity, and essential skills through playful, hands-on learning. However, I quickly noticed that authentic Montessori materials were often prohibitively expensive. As a student mother, my goal became clear: make high-quality Montessori toys truly accessible to all families.
We combined our passion and skills to launch an independent family store offering certified, high-grade wooden toys, largely crafted in Europe with sustainable materials. By minimizing intermediary margins and overhead, we made Montessori toys affordable because early childhood development should belong to every child, not just an elite few.
And so, in November 2017, our family adventure was born!

Every product available in our boutique has been meticulously tested and selected to captivate children through educational discovery, while providing parents with unquestionable durability and safety.
We prioritize solid natural wood over cheap plastics because wood is warm, sensory-rich, long-lasting, and environmentally responsible. All our wooden toys are coated with non-toxic, child-safe water-based paints and sealers, completely safe for infants who naturally explore the world with their mouths. In addition, our toys comply with strict European CE and EN 71 safety directives, and undergo independent inspection by accredited certifying bodies such as TÜV.
We understand that during the early years, babies touch, hold, and mouth their toys constantly. This is why infant safety is our absolute priority: zero harmful chemicals, zero BPA, zero phthalates, and zero sharp splinters.
